Ice King Northland

Welcome to the Ice King ice supplies.

The ice king project was born out of a week long game fishing trip out from Whangarei to BOI where the guest had spent some time waiting at a ice plant in the early hours of the morning to get the boat a supply of ice for the extended trip.

The ice he got admittedly was of much better quality and cheaper than the bagged stuff that could be got local to the boats location so worth the wait.

but however the thought over the week long trip along with experience in automation  turned to "there has to be a better way "

which is how the Ice King onsite (at boat ramp) bulk flake ice vending project was started .

Later in the research it was discovered many sites (stores and gas stations) that did not sell enough to qualify for a vendor had a bad problem with inconsistent ice supplies (as well as a few quality issues) and needed a solution which was solved with the building of Whangarei's only automated bagging plant. the bream  bay- mid western ice plant .    

The Ice King/Sea Ice Difference For The Environment 

We pride ourselves on keeping the environmental impact to a minimum and keeping with this we do not transport ice more than 45km . In sourcing the bags for our localized  micro bagging plant we also went to great lengths to get the most environmentally friendly bag possible by using the latest in freeze resistant plastics over standard plastics that don't like the cold and have to be thicker .

our new range of upcycle store freezers and ice production plants also use no cfc and hfc gasses, no poly oil and are made from up to 80% recycled parts meaning they consume up to 30% less energy and have 95% less capital environmental impact 

This means our bagged products have up to 45% less environmental impact .

The deploying bulk vending units has stalled due to retailers not wanting them (lack of sites ) we have 2 of them in our yard and one day we will revisit installing them .
